As a certified pediatric sleep consultant, I’ve helped hundreds and hundreds of families teach their babies and toddlers to fall asleep independently and to sleep through the night. I’m often asked what my method or approach to sleep training is, and the truth is that I do not have a one size fits all approach to sleep training. I pride myself on supporting families through the process of teaching their children to sleep in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them.
This “client led” approach to sleep training is really the key to my success. If I provide my clients with a sleep training method that does not align with their parenting style or comfort level, then they will be far less likely to implement the plan with the consistency necessary to see success. It’s absolutely crucial that parents feel comfortable and empowered to support their children even when it starts to feel a little bit hard. I always say that when sleep training is executed properly, the crying is limited and temporary!
At the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, students learn all of the various sleep training techniques so that they too can meet clients where they are and support parents to achieve success. Whether our clients feel most comfortable taking a gentle sleep training approach, or a more speedy approach, we will support families without judgement. There is no one size fits all approach to teaching babies and toddlers to sleep independently and through the night.
Getting your pediatric sleep consultant certification doesn’t only teach you how to sleep train, but also how to support families. This is such a crucial piece of the puzzle as many of our clients come to us nervous and anxious about the sleep training process. The sleep consultant training program through the CPSM will leave you ready to support families in a way that feels safe and comfortable for them.
