Starting Your At-Home Side Hustle

Top 5 Ways to Market Your New Mom-Owned Business

In the past two years, working from home has become the new normal for many. However, not everyone has been able to make this a long-term arrangement. Many people are craving the ability to work from home. This is especially true for parents who are dealing with school closures and virtual learning. In addition to the luxury of remote work, the at-home side hustle industry is on the rise as people seek to bring in more money to address rising costs.

An at-home side hustle that allows you to bring in money from the comfort of your own home can sound like the dream for a lot of people. And while it is the best of both worlds, this type of job is completely possible. When you set yourself up for success, it is possible to not only replace your current job but far exceed what income you are bringing in today- all without leaving your house.

As someone who has scaled their side hustle to a full-time work-from-home job, I love nothing more than to see other women succeed in this dream. I’ve compiled my best tips for getting started so that all you have to do is decide that you are ready to get started on this career path. Start your at-home side hustle today.

3 At-home Side Hustle Tips

In order to see change in your life, you have to be willing to take action. Use the following actionable tips to create your at-home side hustle.

Set Goals for Your Business

Not everyone starting a side hustle wants to replace their full-time job or make a six-figure income. This is totally okay! What’s important is that before you decide your plan, you know what success will look like for you and your family. A quick search for “jobs for stay at home moms” may yield lots of results. However, if they do not fit your lifestyle and needs, it can be difficult to take the first step.

Think about how much income you wish to earn. Then consider how much time you want to put into your side hustle. This can help guide you towards or away from certain options and help you focus on meeting your income goals.

I like the Peter Drucker method of SMART goals- Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-based. Applied to an at-home side hustle, this may look something like this: I want to bring in an extra $500 a month for the next two months, in order to have some extra spending money. Within one year, I want to bring in $5,000 per month to replace my existing income and quit my current full-time job.

With this goal in mind, you can start to further determine what will work for you. If you need to tend to children during your work day, you may rule out phone-based customer service. If you don’t have a lot of space, selling physical products may not be the best choice. This will all be personal to you and your family, but is important to think through early on.

Get Certified

An Overlooked Option: Sleep Consulting  (CPSM Sleep Consultant Certification Course)

In the sea of suggestions online, one side hustle that isn’t often mentioned is sleep consulting. This is the line of work that allowed me to quit my day job, spend more time with my kids, and bring in six figures while working from home. Sleep consulting was the right choice for me because it allowed for flexibility and gave me a sense of purpose. I understand how hard it is to have children that don’t sleep. Not only am I making money when I work, but I am doing something I feel good about!

If you are considering getting certified to work as a sleep consultant and want to know how much money you are likely to earn, consider these numbers: A part-time sleep consultant can earn an income of $1,500 to $4,000 per month. A full-time consultant can expect between $5,000 and $10,000 or even more per month. Not only is this great pay for an at-home side hustle, but you can control your own client load to meet your financial needs.

Take the First Step

When it comes to venturing out into a new business, the first step is often the hardest. It can feel scary to invest in yourself, especially when you have a family who is relying on you.
