Can I Do Sleep Consulting as a Side Hustle?

Can I Do Sleep Consulting as a Side Hustle?

With people working from home more than ever and the economic pressure in recent years, many people are on the search for a “side hustle,” or a job they do in addition to their regular day job or being a stay-at-home mom. A quick Google search will yield thousands of articles on side hustle ideas, from online survey websites to renting out your home, but you may not see sleep consulting on many of these lists. But that doesn’t mean it’s not an option- in fact, it means that sleep consulting can be a hidden gem when it comes to generating income!

Graduates of the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management do everything from running a full-time business to taking one client a week for a bit of extra money. One of the benefits of being a sleep consultant is that you set your own hours!

Work On Your Own Time

In many side hustles, you’re performing tasks or doing work on behalf of someone else. This can be nice as there’s little pressure, but you won’t have much control over deadlines or your hours. If you have active kids at home or work another job, this can create conflicts that are difficult to manage if you aren’t your own boss. With sleep consulting, you own your business and can make these decisions.

Another benefit is that a lot of sleep consulting work happens in the evening. When you’re off the clock and your children are asleep, you can build sleep plans and communicate with parents during bedtime. Many parents also work and will want to have their discovery calls in these same off-hours, so there is a natural alignment.

Flexible Client Load

A full time sleep consultant can have a schedule jam-packed with clients, running multiple programs at a time. This can bring in more than enough money to be a sole income with enough work put in. But if you are interested in a side hustle, the nature of this work is that you can choose exactly the amount of time put in by managing the number of clients you work with.

Depending on pricing, even one or two clients per month is enough to supplement your income nicely without putting too much pressure on your daily schedule. You can even start with just one client and then determine if and when it makes sense to add more. There is no minimum amount of work you need to commit to until it makes sense for you and your family.

A Successful Sleep Consultant

What makes someone successful in the sleep consulting business is simply a passion for the work and commitment to clients, not the number of hours you put in or when. If you are ready to invest in yourself and interested in sleep consulting, don’t let other commitments hold you back- the job is truly something you can tailor to your exact place in life and your needs, side hustle or not.
