What You DON’T Need To Become A Sleep Consultant

When deciding if you are ready for a new career or are looking for a side hustle, you may question if you should become a sleep consultant.  This could be a life-changing decision so it is very understandable that you would want to be sure that you are making the right decision.

You may feel that you do not have what it takes to become a sleep consultant (i.e. lacking experience, your own children do not sleep through the night, etc.).  However, there are actually signs that you may already have what it takes.

Experience, Not Required

As a pediatric sleep consultant, you will be asked to help parents and families find ways to develop and maintain healthy sleep habits for their children.  Parents and families often want to work with someone who has a comforting personality to support them with their sleep consulting needs as this can often be stressful for the family.  Each family is unique so you will have to use your knowledge and understanding to help each family in ways that are unique for them.

What are some signs and characteristic traits that you have what it takes to become a sleep consultant?

  1. You enjoy helping others.
  2. You have a warm and comforting personality.
  3. You are flexible and can easily adjust.
  4. You are a great team player and like to collaborate with others.
  5. You are passionate and self-motivated.

Do you possess these personality traits?  If yes, then you will make a great sleep consultant.

As a sleep consultant, you will own and manage your own business.  Booking and maintaining clients will be completely up to you and based on how you market and present yourself.  Experience in the sleep consulting profession is not required, however motivation and consistency is.  With the proper training, goals, and commitment for supporting parents and families, becoming a sleep consultant can be a very fulfilling and gratifying career.  The CPSM sleep consultant certification course will help you start your business and give you the proper tools and confidence to become a sleep expert.

It is Okay if Your Own Children Do Not Sleep Through the Night

Did you know that many graduates of the Center of Pediatric Sleep Management actually joined the program because they wanted to help their own children sleep through the night first?  This is a great way to get started in the sleep consulting profession and then you can share your own personal experiences with your future clients.  Whether you are looking to help other families with their children’s sleep needs or looking to become your own best resource, sleep consulting can be a great career for you.  The CPSM sleep consultant certification course can not only help train you to become a sleep consultant, but also help you to understand your own family’s sleep needs.

Many CPSM course graduates are mothers, and the empathy they bring to their clients is immeasurable.  If you have first hand experience with your own children’s sleep, you can use this experience to connect more with the parents and families you serve.  Coming into the sleep consulting role with your own sleep struggles, whether you have fully resolved them or not, is a great way to connect with your clients and help them understand that they are not alone.  The techniques may not be the same since every family’s needs are unique, but knowing that they are not alone will be comforting to the parents and families you serve.

For all of these reasons and more, you are more than capable and have what it takes to become a sleep consultant and your future clients will thank you for it.  If you would like to learn about becoming a certified sleep consultant, join our Facebook group and visit our blog.
