10 Ways to Find Clients as a Pediatric Sleep Consultant

Woman sitting at a table looking at her open laptop and waving with her right hand at the laptop screen- how to find clients as a sleep consultant

Many aspiring sleep consultants hesitate to follow through with starting a sleep consultant business because they aren’t sure how to find clients as a sleep consultant. This fear holds them back from pursuing one of the most life-changing careers available today. Fortunately for those who feel nervous about beginning this career, there are many avenues you can use to find clients and increase your income.

Sleep consultants have the luxury of creating a working schedule that best fits their needs. In addition, sleep consultants can set their own rates that are competitive with other consultants in the industry. This means you get to have control over your life and your income by becoming a sleep consultant.

If you are hesitant about your ability to find clients as a sleep consultant, then you’ve come to the right place. Graduates of Center for Pediatric Sleep Management (CPSM) have become successful sleep consultants that make consistent revenue each month by following our effective business strategies. Follow the tips below to find your clients and make the kind of money you need on a recurring basis.

10 Ways to Find Clients as a Sleep Consultant

The following ideas are suggestions to find sleep consulting clients. Use one or all of the suggestions below to generate business and income.

1. Ask Family and Friends

The first opportunity you have to find clients as a sleep consultant is to ask your friends and family first if they are willing to support your business. Provide your services to them and receive feedback about how you can enhance your skills and business strategies.

Friends and family want to see you succeed and you are bound to know at least a handful of them that could use your consulting assistance. Don’t hesitate to let them know about the service you offer and ask if you can serve them as their personal sleep consultant.

2. Host a Private Group

Private communities, such as the private groups on Facebook, can be a gold mine for sleep consultants. Essentially, you host a free group and give advice about sleep training for families with young children. You could create infographics, post polls, share studies, and engage in conversations with the members of your group. This opens up the possibility that the families in your group would want to hire you.

Once members see that you are an expert in pediatric sleep management and you engage with the community, they will be more likely to partner with you. People will buy into your business if they “know, like, and trust” you. You can establish all of this in a private group setting.

3. Partner with Local Businesses

Many local businesses are eager to partner with other businesses. This expands their reach in the community as well as gives them someone else to refer to them for whatever products or services they offer. You can partner with local businesses to gain more clients as a sleep consultant.

Consider finding baby or child clothing boutiques, pediatrician offices, pediatric dental offices, or even bookstores in your area and reach out. Ask them if you could leave your business cards and/or business brochures for their customers to have access to your information. Since these businesses are already bringing in your ideal client through their doors, now you can gain free exposure to them and potentially receive clients.

4. Become a Vendor

Vendors that participate in in-person events gain exposure quickly within the community. Similar to a farmers market, you would set up a spot at an event and sell or advertise your business. Offer free consultations on the spot, have a raffle, or create a breastfeeding area for moms who need to nurse in privacy during the event. When people visit your spot, you have the opportunity to talk to them about your business and give them your business card and brochure.

5. Host Virtual Events

Virtual events are a great way to get in front of many people at one time that are your ideal clients. Host a special 60-90 minute event online that touches on the pain points many parents struggle with right now: how to teach their baby to sleep through the night. In your event, give the participants information about sleep training and some quick tips they can use.

At the end of the event, hold space for yourself to market your services to those who attended. You can provide them with a special discount for attending. Even if someone doesn’t sign up right away, you have planted a seed for people to reach back out to you when they begin to face a difficult time creating healthy sleep habits with their children.

6. Increase Your Service Area

Some consultants prefer to offer services in person to their clients. This is a great way to establish rapport and build a relationship with the families you serve. However, you can find more clients as a sleep consultant by increasing your service area. Consider offering virtual sleep consulting so that you can take on more clients and increase your income.

Virtual sleep consultants can serve families in the same capacity that in-person consultants serve. The difference is you are not tied down to finding clients in one area only. Essentially, you can serve people all over the world if you offer virtual services. This is a great way to increase your clientele and make more money.

7. Post on Social Media

Social media can be used as a marketing tool. Increase your business exposure by posting your services on social media platforms. Reach your audience where they are likely spending most of their time each day; scrolling Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and such.

Create engaging content to post on your account(s) and catch the attention of potential clients. You can create business social media pages or simply post often to your personal accounts. Use social media to your advantage to find clients as a sleep consultant.

8. Volunteer in Childcare Settings

Childcare settings are a great way to meet families that could become your clients. You don’t necessarily need to work in a daycare. Instead, volunteer at your local church nursery each month, babysit for other families, or become part of a “mother’s day out” program.

Your volunteer service can increase your exposure to families who are struggling with sleep. Make connections, pass out your business cards, and establish a friendship with families in these settings.

9. Ask for Referrals

The best compliment you can get as a sleep consultant is the compliment of a referral. Consider asking current or previous clients if they know anyone who could use your services. You can offer them a monetary incentive as well to increase the number of referrals you get from them.

When clients refer people to you, they are more likely to sign up for your services because they know someone who has used your services. Referrals are generally easier to sell on your services.

10. Set up Email Marketing

Email marketing is still an effective strategy to use to find clients as a sleep consultant. People subscribe to email lists if there is something they are interested in. This usually includes some kind of freebie or downloadable document that allows your new subscriber to put your strategies to work right away.

Over time, you have the opportunity to build trust with your subscriber when you nurture them through consistent emails. Tell them when you are offering promotions, discounts, or share new information with them. When your subscribers find value in your emails, they are more likely to engage with you which could lead to becoming paid clients.
