Discover why surrounding yourself with like-minded professionals is essential for personal and professional growth, and how the CPSM community can be the perfect place for aspiring and established sleep consultants to thrive.
Success isn’t just about what you know; it’s about who you know and who you surround yourself with. This episode will motivate you to seek out opportunities, events, and communities that challenge and inspire you to grow. If you’re considering becoming a sleep consultant, you’ll gain insight into why CPSM might just be the “right room” for you.

Intro: Welcome to Becoming a Sleep Consultant! I’m your host Jayne Havens, a certified sleep consultant and founder of both Snooze Fest by Jayne Havens and Center for Pediatric Sleep Management.
On this podcast, I’ll be discussing the business side of sleep consulting. You’ll have an insider’s view on launching, growing, and even scaling a sleep consulting business. This is not a podcast about sleep training. This is a podcast about business building and entrepreneurship.
Jayne Havens: Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Becoming a Sleep Consultant Podcast. Today’s episode is all about the power of putting yourself in the right room with the right people in order to set yourself up for success in business and beyond. Now what does that mean exactly? What is this room that I am referring to? It’s all about being intentional with who you surround yourself with, connecting with people who share your goals, your dreams and your drive to grow personally and professionally. It’s about finding those spaces, both online and in person, where you feel inspired, challenged and supported.
This week, I’m recording the podcast from my hotel room in Clearwater, Florida, where I’m attending The Birth Worker Retreat. I’ve only been here for a day and a half, but I can already tell you that this is the right room to be in. The highlight of my day yesterday was sitting outside by the pool with a group of about 20 postpartum professionals. We shared our stories about how we support families, what it looks like for us to grow our businesses, set boundaries with our clients, and really build our lives around our work, which we all find to be so incredibly meaningful.
There are about 35 of us here, including eight students and grads from the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management. These three days in Clearwater will be the perfect mix of learning, relaxation and inspiration.
So far, the experience has been nothing short of transformative. There’s nothing better than surrounding yourself with people who are excited to show up and learn, grow, and advance to the next stage of the game and their business. For the three days that I’m here, I will be exposing myself to fresh ideas, new perspectives, and I’ll be opening my eyes to opportunities that I may not have previously considered. I have made the conscious decision to connect with people who get it because they’re on a similar journey. And when you surround yourself with that kind of energy, it’s contagious. It fuels your growth, and it pushes you to reach for more.
As I sit in my hotel room reflecting, all I can think about is how CPSM is the right room for so many. Our CPSM community is one of the most inspiring and supportive spaces out there for sleep consultants. With over 900 students and grads, it’s a place where you’re constantly surrounded by people who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of families we serve. Inside of CPSM, we’re always cheering each other on, sharing strategies and celebrating each other’s successes. It’s a room full of people who want to see you grow and thrive.
When you join Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, you’re not just enrolling in a course. You’re stepping into a network of like-minded professionals who are there to inspire, support and elevate one another. Whether it’s through our Facebook community, our lifetime access to resources, or the ongoing mentorship opportunities, I can think of no better room than the CPSM community.
You might be listening to this podcast and wondering, “How do I find these spaces? How do I get myself into the right room?” Here are a few ideas that come to mind. Number one, attend events. Look for industry-specific conferences, retreats or local meetups. Whether it’s a workshop, a networking event or something more immersive like this retreat, these events are gold mines for building connections. If large events feel overwhelming, find yourself one or two people who you can meet with regularly to bounce ideas and gain inspiration.
Number two, join online communities. If you’re not able to travel, online spaces like Facebook groups, webinars and virtual masterminds can be just as impactful. For example, in our Becoming a Sleep Consultant Facebook group, we’re always connecting and supporting one another. If you decide to enroll in Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, you’ll be invited to join our Facebook group specifically for enrolled students and grads. I may be biased, but there’s no better room than a room full of CPSM students and grads.
Number three, seek out mentorship. Find a mentor or a coach who can guide you and introduce you to their network. Surrounding yourself with experienced professionals can open up so many doors. Just like parents seek out sleep consultants to support them through their struggles, it’s often valuable for sleep consultants to have a coach or a mentor of their own. The added accountability and support that a coach provides can be instrumental to your success.
And number four, collaborate. Partner with people who have complimentary skills. Not only does this expand your reach, but it’s also a great way to learn and grow. For sleep consultants, this might look like collaborating on a presentation to parents with a child psychologist, a feeding specialist or even a parent coach. Getting into the room with other professionals in the parenting space will position you to offer a higher level of support to your clients, while also allowing you to cast a wider net to grow your business.
Being in the right room isn’t just about learning new strategies for your business. It’s about evolving as a person and a professional. It’s about finding your people, the ones who will help you rise to the next level. I’m going to leave you with this: Don’t wait for the right room to find you. The Birth Worker Retreat didn’t find me. I sought out this opportunity. I took responsibility for my own growth, and I decided to invest in this experience. What I will gain from this experience will pay back my business in dividends.
If this short and sweet episode resonated with you, I’d love for you to come knock on my virtual door. Decide that you’re ready to get into the right room. Take the first step towards joining a community of professionals that are perhaps a few steps ahead of where you want to be. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself. And really, when I say this, I truly mean it. Introduce yourself. Send me an email. Send me a Facebook message or request to join the Becoming a Sleep Consultant Facebook group. I truly cannot wait to connect with you.
