YES! This is so incredibly important. Many of the pediatric sleep coach certification programs only teach their own methods or techniques that align with the creator’s own personal views on sleep training. At the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, we teach a client-led approach, meaning we meet our clients where they are and recommend a sleep training method that aligns with their parenting style and feels safe and comfortable for them. There is no one size fits all approach to teaching children to fall asleep independently.
Our curriculum is geared towards children aged 0-4. Some of the techniques and principles can certainly be applied to working with older children and those cases should be considered on a case by case basis.
Absolutely! We cover infant and toddler safe sleep recommendations made by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Our sleep consultant certification program was written for students living in the United States so all safe sleep recommendations are based on US safety standards. That being said, we do have international students enrolled in the program and we ask that those students make sure that they keep up on recommendations made by their government.
There’s an entire section in the course dedicated to teaching you how to get your sleep consulting business up and running. Most of our students have never started their own business before so we lay it all out for you, step by step. In addition to the curriculum that is dedicated to this topic, we also offer an online social networking community for all of our students and graduates of the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management. This social networking community is a forum for collaboration, support, mentorship and so much more.
Becoming certified to work as a sleep consultant will set you up for success in your business. Technically you can support families through the sleep training process without a certification. There is currently no governing body that regulates this field. That being said, getting certified will provide you with a level of credibility that is extremely valuable. In addition to credibility, the program will provide you with a solid education that will leave you feeling 100% prepared to do this work.
MENTORSHIP AND SUPPORT! When this program was created, it was created because there was a void in the marketplace. There are several other pediatric sleep consultant certification programs on the market, but none offer the level of mentorship and support that is offered by CPSM. You will have regular access to Jayne Havens, the founder of this program, as well as a large network of many other qualified sleep consultants that will always be there to answer a question, give you a pep-talk, or even collaborate. There is no community out there like ours!
