Finding Clients as a Sleep Consultant

Finding Clients as a Sleep Consultant

One of the scariest parts of starting a new business is wondering how to find clients. If you’re already a birth or postpartum doula, you may have already overcome those fears once. However, those fears can always show up again. For others, this may be the first time you’ve taken this kind of leap. Finding clients as a sleep consultant is something you can learn.

When people write in about becoming a certified sleep consultant through the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management, one of their biggest questions is how they will build clients and stand out from other sleep consultants. The truth is that if you can get one client, you get can two clients. Therefore, if you can get two clients, you can get three, and so on.

Finding Clients as a Sleep Consultant

Use the following tips to help your business grow. Overcome the fear associated with finding clients as a sleep consultant.

Use Your Network

One of the great things about running an online business Is that you have the entire world at your disposal. Your market isn’t limited to just people in your area. Tap into Facebook groups for new parents, and groups about sleep training. In addition, finding communities of birth workers can be a great way to reach people interested in your services.

If you’re the kind of person who likes social media and online marketing, you can also take advantage of multiple platforms to spread the word further. For those who prefer to stay local, you can partner with midwives, pediatricians, or childbirth educators that you know. Their simple word of mouth can be enough to bring in waves of parents in need of help.

Invest in Yourself

This doesn’t have to mean pouring money into your business before it’s off the ground. Investing in yourself can mean taking a few simple steps to get started that demonstrate a commitment to your next steps. This can mean certification, making some marketing materials and business cards, or building your website. Not only does this help you feel more prepared, it draws in clients.

A sleep consultant who is serious about their business will be committed to their reputation and their work. Parents will see these investments as confidence and trust you to be a part of their child’s story. Even before you have that first contract signed, take a step towards solidifying your business and the clients will come.

You Already Have Clients

No, really, you do! Whether you’re a mom looking for a side hustle, a birth doula, or a postpartum doula, you have an existing network of parents. Not only are they your demographic, these are people who trust you and many are willing to pay for quality support. Maintaining a good relationship with your friends and previous clients will give you a built-in client base for any additional services, including sleep consulting.

You can include information about sleep consulting in your initial packages, bundle it with other services, or even offer deals for your former doula clients. However you choose to do it, your client base for sleep consulting can be one and the same with your doula clients and your inner circle, simplifying both your life and theirs.
